Pre-Season and first day of the new term Hockey and Rugby training...
The rugby season got off to a flying start, with 50 senior boys attending pre-season over the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before term started. A number of areas were covered, including our new attacking system, which will hopefully allow us to play an expansive and exciting brand of rugby as well as recapping our defensive structure. The U16 and U18s bonded well over the two days and made some great progress as a squad. On the Saturday we were invited to The Kingswood Pre-season Festival, where we played Prior Park School and QEH from Bristol. All players who were involved made massive improvements throughout the day and have put us in a good place to take on Monkton, away, on Saturday 7th September in the cup. A special mention goes to the four U16 players who took part in the festival; Zak H, Harry H, Harry L and Will H. Well done!
The senior girls trained at school on Thursday before travelling to Cardiff Met University to play in their annual invitational festival. Thursday evening saw the team have a 10 pin bowling contest with Mr Eriksson being victorious and well done to Tilly E for the highest pupil score! There was some excellent hockey progress made throughout the course of the three days, in terms of setting out how the team wants to play both in and out of possession this season. There were some fantastic individual and team performances in all four matches, which saw us face King’s Gloucester, St Edwards, Kingswood and Scarborough College. Well done to Coti B and Matilda G for being voted players of the day.
