Sunday the 1st VII headed to Bristol Grammar School with a squad of a bare 7 and without our usual defenders, all injured. The team were amazingly positive, adopted a versatile approach and happily played in any position asked of them. They demonstrated some excellent team work and beat both Downside and defeated Clifton High on goal difference to gain a place in the Cup. Player of the tournament - Sophie C.
Sunday saw both the U16 and U18 rugby 7s teams in action at the Clayesmore and Bristol Grammar School tournaments respectively. The U16s played some excellent 7s as they defeated Monkton Combe, Warminster and Clayesmore before losing to a strong Dauntsey’s side. Meanwhile the U18s enjoyed a successful afternoon as they won the Shield, defeating Clifton College in the final. A closely contested group stage which saw King’s beat Wells Cathedral and Downside comfortably before taking Beechen Cliff close and then only losing by one point to Pangbourne, saw King’s to the Shield final.
