Every parent wants their child to feel happy, supported, and secure. At King’s, we are proud to provide a nurturing environment in which pupils are encouraged to grow, thrive, and pursue their individual aspirations.
Pastoral care is woven into every aspect of life at King’s Bruton, and the School remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care.

Our community is intentionally close and connected, creating an environment that feels warm, personal, and genuinely supportive. At the same time, King’s offers a rich breadth of opportunities that help pupils build resilience, confidence, and a strong sense of self. Our well‑established tutoring system plays a key role in this, and pupils in the 3rd and 4th Form also join mixed House pastoral tutor groups, meeting each Wednesday after the School Service to reflect, discuss, and strengthen relationships across the year groups.
Pupils at King’s are supported by a comprehensive network of care. At its heart are our vibrant Chaplaincy and dedicated Health Centre, which also provides access to School Counsellors when needed. Our Houses are led by empathetic, enthusiastic staff, and the Deputy Head Pastoral is always available to offer guidance, reassurance, and practical support. The School Prefect and House Prefect teams also play a valuable role, offering peer support, sharing their experiences, or simply providing a friendly face when one is needed.
Pupil voice is central to the life of the School. Through groups such as the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Junior Council, E‑Safety Committee and Food Committee, pupils are encouraged to share their views, express their ideas, and contribute meaningfully to decision-making.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are actively promoted throughout King’s. The pupil-led EDI Committee is passionate about raising awareness and celebrating the rich diversity within our community. Each House is represented, and the Committee meets fortnightly with the Deputy Head Pastoral, the Chaplain and other key staff to implement practical strategies that foster an inclusive culture. The group organises assemblies and events for significant awareness moments including Mental Health Awareness Week, International Women’s Day, International Men’s Day, Black History Month, LGBTQ+ Week, Disability Awareness Day, Holocaust Memorial Day, and many others.
Our PSHEE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) programme plays a vital role in helping pupils develop self-awareness, emotional understanding, and positive behaviour. Meanwhile, the RSE (Relationships & Sexual Education) curriculum equips pupils to build respectful, healthy relationships and develop a strong sense of self-esteem.
