A busy week for the BTEC Hospitality pupils

BTECs Sixth Form

It has been another busy week in the world of King's Bruton BTEC Hospitality.

The L6th Form pupils completed a skills assessment for the Asian Cuisine unit by cooking a dish from a country of their choice. It was fantastic to see, and indeed taste, some wonderful dishes from Malaysia, South Korea and Vietnam.

The U6th Form pupils are completing their Alcoholic Beverage Service unit, and are required to have a good understanding of new and old world wines. Last Thursday, we completed the white wine tasting, and this week it was the turn of the red’s. Suitable foods were prepared and evidence of their food and drinks service enabled them to gather some valuable evidence.

Together with some comprehensive online training, they should all be able to determine a Shiraz from a Merlot, or a Chardonnay from Pinot Grigio.
