The UKMT Senior Challenge - The Results!

The results are in! On 4th and 5th November, 18 of our Sixth Form pupils took part in the UKMT Senior Challenge, putting their mathematical knowledge, special reasoning and problem solving skills to the test against tens of thousands of the UK’s other greatest up and coming mathematical minds.

Trying the online entry for this already strange year, it took a while to get used to the sight of the pupils completing the challenge with laptops up in front of them. After the entertainment of Aled’s disappointment at not being awarded any points for correctly answering the question “Are you completing the challenge in school under the supervision of a teacher”, the pupils embarked on 90 minutes of tackling 25 difficult problems.

All the pupils involved deserve a well done, and we are excited to congratulate Jack, Rowan and Connie on their Bronze certificates and Tom, Rory and Isaac on their Silver certificates. Isaac achieved best in school, and was only 1 point off coming in the top 10% of entrants and qualifying both for a Gold certificate and entry into the next round of the competition. A great effort from a L6th Form pupil, and the prospects for him next year look very high!
