Excellent further education news for 6th Form pupils...

The Easter break brought with it some excellent university offers from UK and international universities, followed by the excellent news of a degree apprenticeship offer for one 6th Form pupil at the start of this term. In the UK, pupils are gaining offers from some of the most selective institutions, including the increasingly-selective St Andrew’s, Edinburgh, Durham, UCL and King’s College London, across a wide range of courses. The most popular universities of choice for King’s pupils this year are Manchester and Bristol, both of which have made many excellent offers to pupils. Whilst there remain a number of universities, drama colleges and art schools yet to reply, the picture is excellent with successes across the full range of institutions, following careful consideration of pupils finding their ideal fit.

Internationally, King’s pupils continue to celebrate success. In the USA, Georgia has gained a combined academic and field hockey scholarship to Fairfield University in Connecticut, rewarding her single-minded approach over several years. Congratulations are also due to Joe and Matilda who have received offers from leading Canadian universities, including McMaster and an International Award offer for Joe to UBC, and for Matilda an International Award offer to UBC, a prestigious Gold Scholarship to Alberta and offers from Toronto and Ottawa. Meanwhile, we await decisions from Australian and Irish universities.

Often far more competitive than the majority of universities, are sought after degree apprenticeship positions. Therefore, it was fantastic to hear that Ellie has gained a degree apprenticeship in London with the global real estate firm, Cushman and Wakefield, following several demanding rounds of assessment and interview.

As Deputy Head, 6th Form, I have been incredibly impressed with the determination and ambition shown by pupils this year, seeking to find their ideal pathway forward. They have achieved exceptional offers with more still to come. Looking out into the 6th Form study area, I can see that they have started this term with excellent focus, shown the drive to achieve the places they have been offered, and gain the best possible outcomes in their final school year.
