BTEC Hospitality Pupils Have Been Making Sushi

BTECs Sixth Form

This year the Sixth Form BTEC Hospitality pupils will be taking a culinary tour around Asia. They have completed research on six different countries and have now begun to prepare, cook and present a selection of dishes from each location.

Initially, we will spend two weeks cooking foods from each country, and look at the unique ingredients and methods used to produce some iconic dishes. Most recently we have enjoyed some great Sushi sessions, making the actual Sushi and carving some suitable garnishes.

Next week, pupils will work in pairs to prepare a dish of their choice. So far they have chosen: Katsu Curry, Miso Steak with Pak Choi, Ramen Noodle Soup, Teriyaki Chicken and Salmon, Tempura vegetables and Japanese Fluffy Pancakes.

After half term, we will be looking at Indian cuisine.
