Sixth Form Careers

With future ambitions in mind, King’s School U6th Form took part in the inaugural Interview Scheme on Saturday 4th November.

Following several sessions preparing CVs and cover letters, as well as exploring interview techniques and body language skills, the pupils were faced with the challenge of interviews from experienced professionals. Nineteen parent volunteers, all veteran interviewers in fields ranging from engineering, hospitality and medicine, to the military, estate agency and human resources, presented a daunting and highly beneficial prospect for the pupils.

The interviewees acquitted themselves superbly and stood up to some tough questioning, with thoughtful responses. Each also benefitted from a feedback slot with their interviewers, giving points to learn from for future interviews where there will be considerably more riding on their performance! The majority of interviewees were given a second practice interview in which they could put into practice the feedback they had received.

All in, the event was a huge success. The pupils were left better equipped to face challenging interviews for jobs and university places in the future, following the Sixth Form challenge to be ambitious with their futures.

A huge thank you must go to the interviewers, who generously gave their time to help the pupils take one step closer to successful futures.
