A trip to the Royal Albert Hall to experience the BBC Proms Choral Day...
On Saturday, some of the pupils in the King’s Chamber Choir travelled to the Royal Albert Hall to attend two concerts as part of the BBC Proms Choral Day programme. The first was a performance of Choral Music by English composers given by the superb professional choir The Sixteen conducted by Harry Christophers. The programme consisted of both a cappella works and works accompanied by the organ at the Royal Albert Hall which is the second largest in the UK.
The second Prom of the day was a performance given by the Max Ferdinand Singers - a group of American professional singers founded during the pandemic. The music was very varied and included gospel and jazz standards as part of the programme. The final item in the programme was a work composed by Jacob Collier (singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and educator) who made a guest appearance and had the assembled audience singing in harmony within moments - it was an incredible experience!
