Geography Trip to Azores
Tuesday afternoon saw King’s buzzing with excitement as the annual Inter-House Music Festival unfolded with Rounds 1 and 2 in the Hauser & Wirth Recital Hall, followed by the grand finale House Song, Round 3, in the Memorial Hall. This much-anticipated event transforms the Music School into a hive of energy, with Houses dedicating countless hours of practice in preparation for the Solo, Ensemble, and House Song rounds.
We were thrilled to welcome Emily Baker, Director of Music at Port Regis Preparatory School, as our adjudicator, and from the very first note, the standard was very impressive.
The competition began with Round 1, where each House showcased their best Junior and Senior soloists, setting the bar impressively high. Round 2 brought six well rehearsed ensemble performances, a testament to the dedication and teamwork of every House. What makes this Festival truly special is that it is entirely pupil-led, adding an extra layer of accomplishment to every performance.
Then came Round 3 - the pinnacle of the Festival - where entire Houses took to the stage for the much-loved House Song round. As is tradition at King’s, the atmosphere was electric, with camaraderie and school spirit shining through every performance. The event was not only a celebration of musical excellence but also of collaboration, creativity, and sheer passion for music.
Huge congratulations to all the participants for their outstanding performances! Special recognition goes to New House, who clinched victory in the House Song Round for the second consecutive year, and to Priory House, who emerged as the overall winners - securing the title by the narrowest of margins, just half a point between them and Wellesley House!
