King's Bruton pupils sang with 3000 others at the Royal Albert Hall...
A small group of pupils travelled to the Royal Albert Hall to perform in the Messiah from Scratch event, organised by The Really Big Chorus. It was a memorable evening, with a choir of over 3,000 voices accompanied by the London Festival Orchestra and professional vocal soloists. As part of the event, an auction was held, offering a choir member or audience member the chance to bid for the opportunity to conduct an additional performance of the famous Hallelujah Chorus. After several offers, the winning bid reached an impressive £9,000! All proceeds went to the British Heart Foundation.
This was an incredible opportunity and experience for the pupils, to be part of such a vast choir - where the singers outnumbered the audience by a ratio of three to one. It was also a pleasure to be joined by Samuel Young, Old Brutonian, who managed to secure a ticket just a few hours before the concert. Well done to all the singers who took part in this remarkable event.
