A wonderful Choral Evensong sung by our Chapel Choir in Winchester Cathedral...

Watch a livestreamed video of the service.

On Wednesday 31st January, the Chapel Choir travelled to Winchester Cathedral to sing a service of Choral Evensong. It was almost eight years ago to the day since the Chapel Choir last performed at Winchester Cathedral. It is such an incredible building; it has one of the longest Naves in Europe as well of being one of the largest cathedrals in the UK.

The music for the service included the Preces and Responses by Richard Ayleward, Psalms 148 and 150 set to a chants by Charles Villiers Stanford, Sir Henry Wood’s setting of the Canticles in D major and Whitlock's stunning setting of the text Be still, my soul. The Chapel Choir sang particularly well, and it was good to have the service livestreamed - you can watch the service by clicking on the video above.

There were a good number of parents, friends and family in the congregation for the service and it was lovely to perform in a full Quire. Well done and congratulations to the Chapel Choir on their high standard of singing. Looking ahead to next term, the Chapel Choir are scheduled to sing Choral Evensong at Bristol Cathedral on Thursday 18th April at 5.15pm.
