The Sixth Form have had three excellent events recently to explore international universities and it has been brilliant to see many taking the opportunity to broaden their horizons.
Firstly, a group of six universities from Canada, the USA and Spain ran a drop-in session, offering the opportunity for pupils to ask questions about their own universities and university systems in their countries as well. Pupils were inspired by the admissions advisers from Oregon, Concord, Queen’s, Bishops, IE and Michigan State, accompanied by an advisor from Syzygy Global Education.
Following this, a small group of ambitious pupils travelled with the Head of Sixth Form to London, where the Fulbright Colleges Day was taking place. With over 150 US colleges and universities exhibiting, the pupils were able to gain some wise perspectives on university styles, admissions requirements, scholarship availability and much more.
The final event was back at King’s, as sixteen universities attended for a Study Abroad Show. This represented a diverse range of countries: Hong Kong, Australia, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Canada and USA were all represented. Many pupils from the 5th and Sixth Form attended, along with their parents and some visitors, creating a genuine buzz of interest in the Memorial Hall.
The Head of Sixth Form, Will Daws, commented: “I was delighted to see so many pupils taking an interest in the opportunities open to them to study abroad. With many overseas options, including many of those on the other side of the Atlantic, coming in at a lower cost than UK universities and yet offering outstanding courses, it is encouraging to see pupils exploring the many destinations available to them, in order to find their best fit.”
