On Saturday, King’s entered three fighters into the HMC Schools’ National Judo Championship at High Wycombe Judo Centre.
In true King’s style, Hector McAfee, Isaac Boswall and Toby Crossfield punched significantly above their weight.
Toby had to retire hurt when well placed to earn a medal in the sub 61kg category. Isaac fought magnificently all afternoon to earn a bronze medal in the sub 73kg division. Hector was imperious in the 81kg division. He was too strong and too quick for all of his opponents and won all of his fights convincingly to win the gold medal and to be crowned champion: a fantastic achievement. Indeed, Hector sent the boys from Harrow homeward to think again!
Commenting on his victory, Hector said: “I kept my fights short trying to beat my opponents as quickly as possible. This was seen in the fact that none of my fights lasted longer than thirty seconds. This was my fourth judo tournament and my fourth medal. The whole experience was exhilarating!”
