Concert BTECs

The musicians at King’s never fail to disappoint and this year’s Community Concert and Tea Party was no exception.

Together with the BTEC Hospitality pupils, musicians of all ages, entertained a packed Memorial Hall of senior citizens and their carers. Felix's complicated piano solo, Tom's intricate rendition of A Cricket Sang and Set The Sun on the marimba and Ella's performance of Song to the Moon were all quite exquisite. They, together with the other superbly talented soloists entertained and excelled.

During the interval the gathered throngs were rewarded with a delicious tea, served by the School’s BTEC Hospitality pupils. An abundance of scones and cream, assorted sandwiches, coffee & salted caramel cupcakes and macaroons with chocolate ganache, all washed down by pots of steaming tea ensured that the guests would not need feeding again that day! In the second half of the programme, the visitors, from Sexey’s Hospital, Bruton Active Living and the Candlelight Community, listened to an eclectic extravaganza of music performed by the School’s Military Band, ranging from well-known military marches to pop medleys. Something for all tastes!

This event is becoming more and more popular - we even had a gate crasher this year, as word had got out!!! He was made very welcome and we took it as a huge a compliment. After a superb afternoon of food and entertainment our guests left happily talking about next year’s event! An album from the afternoon can be seen below.
