When reflecting upon a term of sport, it is very easy to focus in on the performance aspects of our 1st teams, who have again, enjoyed some exceptional seasons and results, of which we do of course celebrate. However, what stands out most for me this term is the percentage of pupils who have represented King’s Bruton at sport this term. This figure stands at an impressive 92%, which is testament to all the pupils and staff who dedicate their time and energy into providing a suitable breadth of sports provision, whilst making training sessions engaging and inclusive. This, coupled with the exceptional parent support on the sidelines, has made this a truly successful term of sport. Moreover, some of the outstanding performances from this term should equally be highlighted, and whilst there are so many to celebrate, a good place to start is the U18 Rugby Sevens team who competed in the Vase at Rosslyn Park. With 224 teams entering, the boys reached Day 2 of the competition and to finish in the Top 32, which is a remarkable achievement when you look at the other schools who enter. Equally, on the hockey front, the boys’ hockey teams enjoyed victories versus Millfield School at 1st, 2nd and U15A level, which showcases the depth of the boys’ hockey programme. The U14As also reached the Last 16 of the Tier 1 National Cup competition, which is the furthest an U14 team has progressed for some time. It has also been wonderful to see our girls’ sporting provision continue to develop and succeed as the 1st VII Netball team defeated both Bryanston and Wellington School, whilst the popularity of our girls’ football programme continues to grow.

As ever none of the above would be possible without the commitment and dedication of both pupils and staff alike, as well as the outstanding support on the sidelines. I hope that the whole King’s community enjoys a Happy Easter.
