Charity House Activities and Competitions

The 4th Annual Lyon House Dodgeball Competition was held on Sunday 2nd February in the Fitzjames Sportshall. Seven teams from the Houses competed for the coveted trophy and the competition was fierce at times. The skills on display were quite impressive and the pupils were clearly enjoying themselves. The group 1 and 2 runners up competed against each other for the “Plate” and this led to 4th Place being taken by “Diddy’s Disciples”, whilst 3rd was grasped by “Dodgy Balls”. The final was between an impressive Lyon House Team of Upper 6th Boys (The Dark Side Dodgers) and a feisty band of Priory girls (joined by two of Lyon's finest 5th Form) who were “The Jammy Dodgers”.

It was a final that was fraught with controversy and some loose interpretations of the rules by both sides. There was an early change of decision in the first game because of an illegal ball kick, which led to the Dark Side losing their cool somewhat. However, they recovered to eventually take the title. Jammy Dodgers were an impressive 2nd Place and the Dark Side Dodgers took the trophy back to Lyon.

Huge thanks go to our House Matron, Julie, for putting together the Waffles, and to Mr Eriksson for refereeing throughout. Sport was definitely the winner, and nearly £100 was raised for the School Charity, The DOCS Foundation Nepal.
