An exciting term ahead for King’s Bruton Cricket...

Preparation for the Cricket term at King’s started back in October. The Winter Programme consisted of Girls’ Cricket sessions, 1st XI Boys’ team practice, Emerging Player group sessions and over 60 pupils receiving 1-1 or small group sessions with our Cricket Specialists throughout the Christmas and Spring terms. The weather, unfortunately, put paid to the Senior Boys’ 1st XI Pre Season Invitational, however, the Girls’ 1st XI hosted Royal High School Bath in a fixture hosted at Hazlegrove Prep School. Posting 139-6 off 20 overs, King’s restricted Royal High School Bath to 81 all out.

This season, King’s will field six Boys’ teams (1st XI, 2nd XI, 3rd XI, Junior ‘A’, Junior ‘B’ and Junior ‘C”’ and three Girls’ teams (1st XI, Junior ‘A’, Junior ‘B’). Each team will play weekly friendly fixtures against our traditional competitors, whilst we will also compete in a number of National Cup competitions. The Boys’ 1st XI will host either Mount Kelly or Milton Abbey in the second round of the U18 National School T20, the Girls’ 1st XI will host King Edward's School, Bath in the School Sport Magazine U18 T20 Cup, the U15 Boys’ will host King’s College Taunton in the U15 ESCA National T20 and the U15 Girls’ team will travel to Wellington School in the School Sport Magazine U15 T20 Cup. Other highlights of the term will include showcase fixtures for the 1st XI against the MCC at the end of April and their end of term Festival Week when they will host the Rifles Regiment, Wiltshire Queries CC, XL Club and ACE Academy across a mix of formats.

I am very much looking forward to a busy and exciting term of Cricket, and would like to take this opportunity to thank, in advance, all the pupils, parents, cricket department staff, grounds staff, catering and all those who support the Cricket programme here at King’s Bruton.
