After a late withdrawal from the Rifles Regiment, last Saturday saw all Junior teams in action against Prior Park College to kick off our Festival of Cricket Week.

The Junior U15As were unable to build partnerships with the bat as they travelled to Prior Park College and fell to 82 all out off their 25 overs. However, Prior Park also struggled to get going on a tricky wicket but finally got over the line with an over to spare. The Junior U15Bs saved their best performance to last as they restricted Prior Park to 77 all out. Lucy W got King’s Bruton off to a flyer with the bat, and King’s won the game inside 10 overs. The Junior U15Cs played out a wicket thriller away at Prior Park, eventually falling on the losing side.

The 1st XI finally kicked off their Festival of Cricket Week when they hosted a strong Wiltshire Queries. Captain, Ronnie F, elected to bat and King’s started well with Ethan M scoring a very fine 99 off just 97 balls. George G also contributed well with 45. King’s Bruton posting 246-9 declared. Captain Ronnie then found himself in the game picking up 4 wickets for just 9 runs off his 15 overs. King’s were unable to take the final wicket as Wiltshire finished 89-9 off 43 overs.

Ronnie F batted excellently for his 61 and Milo M fell just short of a half century scoring 48. King’s Bruton posted  257-8 declared. King’s were able to take regular wickets in the XL Clubs response as Ronnie F finished with figures of 6.4 overs, 3 maidens, 12 runs for 5 wickets. King’s Bruton winning by 197 runs.

Tuesday saw the final fixtures of the term against the ACE Academy with two T20 Games taking place on Hyde. In Game 1, the ACE Academy posted a very competitive 194-5 off 20 overs, however, King's managed to get themselves within touching distance to eventually lose out by 16 runs. A number of great contributions from Felix M, George G and Oliver F with the bat. In Game 2, King's Bruton also posted 194-5 off 20 overs with Ronnie F scoring a very well worked 89. King's took regular wickets in the second innings and restricted ACE to 168- 9 off 20 overs to run out winners by 26 runs.

A huge thank you must go to the pupils, parents, officials, spectators, catering team and dedicated grounds department who simply make such a busy term possible.
