Last Monday, the King’s U18 Girls' Indoor Hockey Team travelled to Taunton School to contest the Somerset County U18 Indoor Hockey Tournament.
Placed in a difficult pool alongside Queen’s College and Millfield, the girls knew it would be tough to qualify from the group for the semi-finals. However, an excellent performance in the first match vs a strong Queen’s College team saw King’s run out 2-1 winners courtesy of two well taken penalty corner goals from Captain Millie and Caroline. In the context of the group this was a very important victory as it put them in pole position to qualify for the semi-finals. A poor first half vs Millfield was enough as King’s lost 5-0, however, as Millfield beat Queen’s by the same margin, the girls lined up a semi final with King’s College Taunton. Despite not reproducing their earlier form, the girls fought well with a goal from Millie being enough to secure a 1-0 victory and qualify for both the final and a place at the West Regional Finals. It was a much improved performance in the final vs Millfield in which the girls lost 3-1 with Sophie scoring an excellent solo goal and they now look forward to representing Somerset at the West Finals this weekend.
