Weekend Fixtures Roundup 12th October 2019
There were some very tough and competitive hockey matches versus Dauntsey’s on Saturday.
Team of the Week - 2nd XI - Drew 1-1
Goal: Charlotte
Player of the Match: Ida
The 2nd XI played out a highly entertaining and high quality 1-1 draw with Dauntsey’s in what was a fantastic advert for school 2nd XI hockey. Despite not quite playing to their potential in the first half and consequently going into the half time break one goal down, the 2nd XI produced their best hockey of the season to date in the second half as they dominated Dauntsey’s with some scintillating attacking hockey. This resulted in Charlotte scoring a clever deflected goal to draw level, a goal which even surprised Charlotte herself! The outstanding Ida was voted Player of the Match following an excellent performance in the forward line.

Team of the Week - U15A - Lost 22-12
Man of the Match: Ned
It’s not often the Team of the Week is delivered to a losing team, however the U15 A’s produced a performance that demonstrated what representing King’s is about. King's started the game with the tails up and a spring in the step. Exeter attacked early but struggled to find a gap in a strong King’s defence. Some excellent tackling and counter-rucking allowed King’s to break away and a ‘big fend’ from Luke saw him in acres of space allowing him to score a fantastic solo effort try. Exeter answered with two tries of their own which took the score to 12-5 at half time. The second half saw King’s apply early pressure on Exeter. Some exceptional counter attacking from Oscar followed by some sublime handling from Archie M-S put Archie M away in the corner. Ned added the extras. The game entered its final stages with the score at 15-12 to Exeter. Exeter scored a break away try to finish the game 22-12. An outstanding game of rugby which highlighted how far this team has progressed in the last 12 months. Man of the Match was awarded to Ned for his excellent game management and superb distribution skills.
