King’s Bruton celebrated excellent A Level and BTEC results today in their 500th Anniversary year.

The number of pupils achieving A*-A at A level rose to 34%, up from 28% in 2018, with the A*-B percentage rising to 60% up from 52% in 2018. Nine pupils gained straight A*/A grades at A Level (Sam Innes A*A*A*, Poppy Boyden A*AA, Jonathan Boyle A*A*A, Elsie Gibbs A*A*A, Callum McFarlane A*A*A, Emma Reynolds A*AA, Poppy Turner AAA Double Distinction*, Narnia Wilmot A*AA, David Wirth A*AAC) with nine further pupils in BTEC Hospitality and two pupils in BTEC Sport gaining the top BTEC grade of Double Distinction*. Clara Bracey and Ellie Cooke achieved B grades alongside two BTECs graded at Distinction and Double Distinction*. Twenty of the BTEC grades were Distinction level or better, making it the best year for BTEC results at King’s.

Several pupils were very successful in combining A Levels with BTECs and the overall average UCAS points score per pupil was 131.9 ( the equivalent to AAB). Ian Wilmshurst, Headmaster commented,  “These are an excellent set of results at A level and at BTEC. I am very proud of what our pupils have again achieved and the initial responses this morning from universities are very encouraging. I think it is important to highlight the impressive range of A Levels and BTECs we now offer at Sixth Form with outstanding careers and university advice. All academic departments have excelled and I am grateful to our academic staff for their dedication and professionalism in supporting pupils of all abilities to fulfil their academic potential. These results are a wonderful way to celebrate our 500th year.”
