An academic roundup of the summer term...

I have been so incredibly impressed with how all pupils at King’s have tackled what has been a very busy and successful term. With the examination season starting slightly earlier this year, it feels like almost every week of the term has had some form of external examination/ assessment taking place. It has been really pleasing to see how pupils tackling those external assessments prepared for their examinations, and I wish them every success this summer.

As I mentioned earlier this term, I am always delighted to see strong internal assessment grades, and especially strong effort grades. This term pupils secured the best effort grades on record, a measure of how well so many pupils have applied themselves to their subjects and studies. I hope that all pupils reflect on the fantastic progress that they have made this term and look to start next term with the same levels of motivation, ambition, and sense of purpose. As we approach the very end of term, I look forward to rewarding many pupils for their continued hard work and effort as part of the Presentation of Governors’ Prizes.

There have been so many highlights this term, and it is hard to narrow it down to just a few. I thought that the Summer Concert was outstanding and showcased everything that is so very special about King’s. It was great to not only see such talented pupils performing, but to see the whole school community, past and present, come together for a very special evening. I was incredibly impressed by the GCSE and A Level Art Exhibition, especially the quality and diversity of the pieces of art on show. I very much enjoyed the Academic Forum and watching pupils work through various different challenges. The amount of enrichment and opportunities available for pupils this term has been incredible, and I have very much enjoyed watching pupils make the most everything available to them.

Regardless of the subject or the area of interest, I always enjoy seeing pupils achieve success. When hard work and perseverance delivers success for pupils, it is a great reward and a good lesson learnt. It has therefore, been fantastic to see pupils achieve success in Trinity Speech and Drama qualifications, Cambridge English qualifications, MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) and within many different areas of the School. I would encourage pupils to step outside their comfort zone, try something new, and it is often amazing to see what success you can achieve.

Throughout the last year, it has been amazing to see the incredible range of Higher Education courses and pathways that U6th Form pupils will be embarking on next year. Pupils have secured many outstanding university, degree apprenticeship and employment/ internship placements for the next academic year. I wish all pupils every success this summer and hope that they secure the results they need to take up these incredible opportunities.

After such a busy year, I wish all parents, pupils and colleagues a lovely summer holiday.
