A round up of last weekend's sport...
Somerset Combined Events Championships
Last weekend, King’s Bruton athletes competed in the Somerset Combined Events Championships held at Millfield School. Unfortunately Saturday’s competition was abandoned due to gale force winds which was disappointing for our junior boys Archie and Dimitri and our senior athletes Harriet and Rian. Sunday’s events went ahead and the morning started with Rian competing in the 110 hurdles. Harriet started her day with the long jump. Three of our junior girls Marcia, Georgina and Maya competed in their first pentathlon and started their day with the 75m hurdles. Rian then went to discus followed by the pole vault. He had never attempted a height at pole vault so to achieve 2:40cm is truly amazing in such a technical and courageous event. Maya having never competed in any athletics before achieved an impressive 1:45 in the high jump and 4:44 in the long jump. Georgina ran an impressive 2:50 800m and Molly scored good results in all 5 events. Well done, a long but very enjoyable day.
