King's Bruton U10 & U12 Hockey Tournament
On Wednesday afternoon, King’s hosted their annual U10 and U12 Hockey Tournaments in glorious sunshine. Having had to cancel the Tournament due to snow this time last year, it was fantastic to have the event go ahead and there was some truly impressive hockey played. The U10 Tournament was contested by Queen’s College, Hazlegrove, Chafyn Grove and Sherborne Prep with Queen’s College claiming the title, narrowly ahead of Hazlegrove. The U12 competition saw teams from Hazlegrove, Queen’s, Sherborne Prep, Chafyn Grove, Sidcot and Wellington Junior School compete in what was an exciting afternoon of hockey. With Sherborne finishing in third place after their matches, it came down to the final match of the day as Hazlegrove and Chafyn Grove had won all of their matches before they played each other in what ended up being a very tight and entertaining 0-0 draw. This meant that Hazlegrove became champions by two goals, having a better goal difference than Chafyn Grove.
I would like to say a huge thank you to all the visiting parents, staff and pupils who came and supported the event, and also to the King’s staff and pupils who helped to make it such an enjoyable afternoon of hockey in the sun.
