This year’s enrichment programme for the Sixth Form made a strong start on Monday, with separate visiting speakers leading inspiring sessions for both year groups.

The L6th Form were challenged and motivated in their mindsets, by Peter Radford from Beyond This. They were encouraged to see how their approach to life and study in the Sixth Form would determine their success, without an inevitable continuation of past results. New habits were set and the pupils were inspired with fresh ambition and goals for the way ahead. Pupils were encouraged to adopt aspirational growth mindsets, which will help them to rise to the challenges of the years ahead of them.

Meanwhile the U6th Form, as the senior year in the School, were given a clear grounding in leadership skills from Inside Knowledge’s Andrew Wright. Drawing on his significant experience in the military and in business, Andrew drew out of each pupil the potential in them to develop leadership skills. Pupils were given the confidence to step forward and to become decision makers and leaders. They were shown how body language and simple actions, not least in the way they speak can make the right impression on those they meet and are in positions of leadership over. The message, however, had a clear thrust that leadership did not just involve other people, but also included leadership and responsibility for their own lives and future direction.

The talks set a clear tone for the year ahead, whilst reinforcing the maxim of the King’s Sixth Form – to "be ambitious". Some photos from the lectures can be seen in a couple of tweets below.
