On Monday afternoon King’s hosted 30 universities, gap year providers and apprenticeship advisers for our annual Higher Education and Future Opportunities Fair.
The event, designed to inspire and guide pupils in their future plans, showcased universities from across the UK - from Aberystwyth to East Anglia and Bath to St Andrew’s - and, indeed, from further afield. Pupils and parents, from King’s and the surrounding area, were able to find out in more detail about specific courses and universities, enabling them to be better informed as they make applications in the coming months. An apprenticeship adviser was on hand to offer guidance on this increasingly popular degree route, accompanied by Old Brutonian Callum Thorner, currently working through a degree apprenticeship with Airbus. Gap year providers offering volunteer and paid opportunities were also on hand to give plenty of food for thought for the pupils as to how they could use a year off for both their own and other’s benefit.
Alongside the Fair, there were seminars delivered by the delegates. Experts spoke on the benefits of studying English or Hospitality, potential NHS funded degrees in Wales, degree apprenticeships, personal statements and Australian universities.
For the many that came, it was an informative and thought-provoking event, representing a key part of the on-going careers and university guidance offered at King’s in the Sixth Form.
