On Tuesday 6th March the 1st XI Girls’ Hockey Squad travelled to Haileybury School in Hertfordshire to contest the Independent Schools’ Hockey Cup Semi-Final - a national competition.

Having enjoyed a good journey and relaxed preparation, the girls lined up for the match. Despite some early opportunities for King’s, Haileybury took the lead courtesy of a slightly fortuitous strike against the run of play. That is how it remained until half time. However, King’s really found their stride in the second half as goals from Sophie, Charlotte and captain Anna saw King’s race into a three goal lead. Some fantastic saves from Alina kept King’s in command and despite two very late consolation goals for the hosts, King’s recorded a fantastic 4-3 victory to qualify for the final. This will be an all Somerset final versus Millfield. A big well done to the girls and congratulations for making it this far; an excellent achievement!
