An excellent Woodwind Concert...
The annual Woodwind Concert took place in the Hauser & Wirth Recital Hall last Friday evening. There were many excellent solo performances punctuated by ensembles including the Clarinet, Flute and Saxophone Ensembles.
The Flute Ensemble opened the Concert with Wedding Day at Troldhaugen by Grieg. The Clarinet Ensemble performed towards the middle of the Concert with an arresting arrangement of the Looney Tunes Melody by Schorr. The Saxophone Ensemble closed the concert playing Ain’t She Sweet arranged by Ager, providing a fitting close to the evening. Each of the ensembles were impressive with lots of attention to phrasing, articulation, and dynamics. All the soloists were outstanding, and all deserve huge credit for their performances - well done and congratulations to all involved, and particular thanks to our flute, clarinet and saxophone teachers Mrs Arcoleo and Mr Lambton for all their hard work to prepare the pupils and ensembles.
