The KSBMotorsport Team were privileged to be able to enjoy an amazing afternoon at Haynes. Our initial aim was to evaluate the KSBMotorsport Greenpower Race Car following some modifications made after the Castle Coombe race. The International Final is on October 8th and the Team need to do everything within their power to improve the car’s competitiveness. It is so important to keep learning from each race experience and to make improvements as we progress through the season. Following the initial laps, adjustments were made, and the Team subsequently saw improvements to their lap times. There are still things to work on and a remarkably busy two weeks lie ahead, but a positive start has been made.

After testing, we were incredibly fortunate to be offered the opportunity to be shown around the museum and workshop by the team at Haynes. It is a superb location and certainly worth a visit. Hannah, our driver for the Goodwood Final, was able to sit in the cockpit of Michael Schumacher’s first Ferrari F1 car. A vastly different experience to sitting behind the wheel of KSB1 - our battery powered Greenpower race car. The Team were taken through the various halls and display areas and we thoroughly enjoyed looking at the incredible selection of vintage and classic cars, as well as some wonderful racing cars, including the selection of Williams F1 cars that are currently on show in Haynes Motor Museum. During the tour, six of the Team were able to sit in spacious comfort in an American Classic Cadillac Saloon De Ville which was parked next to a Cadillac Miller-Meteor, just like the car featured in the Ghostbuster’s movies. Almost every car on show has a story linked to it.

The Team were also given a unique opportunity to see some of the skilled technicians working on body panels, precision engineering, servicing and restoration work that the Haynes Restoration Centre specialise in. In situ were a variety of vintage and luxury cars, including Porsche, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. The memories will last for a long time and a wonderful afternoon was had by all. Our thanks go to Steve and the Team at Haynes.
