On Friday evening, the Summer Concert took place in the Hauser & Wirth Recital Hall. The Concert opened with the Orchestra performing Ballet from Debussy’s Petite Suite, followed by the Military Band playing two contrasting pieces Semper Fidelis and Music from Pirates of the Caribbean. Other ensembles both large and small performed including: Piano Trio, Trombone Ensemble, School Choir, Chapel Choir, Chamber Choir, String Ensemble, 4th Form Band, Wind Quintet, Flute Ensemble, Cello Ensemble and Big Band. Jocelyn (U6th Form, Wellesley House) performed the mezzo soprano solo in Rutter’s arrangement of Steel Away from the collection ‘Feel the Spirit’ beautifully and with poise. The concert concluded with the Big Band, initially accompanying a vocal solo by Jemima (U6th Form, Priory House) with Will (U6th Form, New House) playing a saxophone solo, followed by an outstanding arrangement of Friend Like Me by Angus (U6th Form, Blackford House).

There were many highlights during the evening, and all the pupils performed brilliantly. It was wonderful to have an enthusiastic audience and to see the pupils thriving and enjoying performances in so many contrasting ensembles.

Well done to all involved on an outstanding Summer Concert!
