Sport Roundup - Week 7...
Netball vs Clayesmore
The girls have played 2 block fixtures this week with some very good results across the age groups. On Thursday, the seniors travelled away to Clayesmore, with the 1st Team producing one of the performances of the season. Having started well, they had a weak second quarter to go 8 goals down. With a regroup at half time, the girls worked calmly and effectively to restore their lead and eventually win by 8 goals - a staggering 16 goal comeback in 24 minutes, against a strong Clayesmore side.
The seconds played an unusually slow game, forced by the opposition. Once we started to play our own game we won 17-13.
Lottie and Ellie led the 3rds to a very easy victory, winning by 26 goals! Everyone contributed to a very pleasing strong team performance.
The 4ths performed very well, in a low scoring game. The team worked well together, moving the ball effectively down the court.
The 5ths had a much tougher game, sadly coming out on the wrong end of the results sheet, despite Franca and Phoebe working exceptionally hard.
5 junior teams played at home, winning 4 of the 5 games. The Junior 1st Team played very well and began to work together as a team, with Lucy performing very well. The 2nds and 3rds also played well, although the results were a little closer, with Emily getting Player of the Match for the 2nds and Martha and Grace for the 3rds. The 4ths had a much tougher game, despite good performances from Grace and Hermione. Issy and Matilda led the 5ths to a very positive victory in the final game of the day!
Netball vs Monkton Coombe
On Saturday, the seniors hosted Monkton Coombe at home. The 1st Team quickly went 7 goals up and we worked very well to maintain the score, with India remaining exceptionally calm to keep the game in our favour.
The 2nds game was very interesting, and really allowed the girls to test their resolve, coming out winners 22-19.
The 3rds had a good victory, with Mimi and Olivia playing very well to lead them to a 3 goal win.
Holly inspired the 4ths to a 22 goal win.
Phoebe and Kitty led the 5ths to a similar result.
The juniors travelled away to Bath and the Junior 1st Team had the performance of the season. Against a very strong team, with 4 Team Bath players, they all performed exceptionally well, to result in a 24-24 draw! Mrs Griffiths couldn’t decide on Player of the Match as they all played so well. The Junior 2nds played another strong team and were outperformed across the court, special mention goes to Olive and Indigo who worked very hard and did not give up despite the standard of the match.
Eva and Tallulah led the 3rds to a very close win, and the junior 4ths drew, with Geneva and Olivia playing very well.
