It has been an extremely busy half term of sport, with fixtures in Netball, Hockey, Rugby 7s, Cross Country, Girls’ Football, Girls’ Cricket, Swimming and Table Tennis.
The various opportunities offered has meant that we have seen a large number of pupils representing King’s already this term, both in terms of friendly fixtures, and also in competitive environments. There have been several highlights this half term, with a major one being the first King’s Girls’ Football team playing a fixture versus Sherborne Girls. Equally, the boys’ hockey teams produced some impressive performances in both the England Hockey Cup and Independent Schools’ Cup, whilst our netball teams have produced some dominant performances. The U15 girls also played some outstanding cricket as they progressed to the Regional Round of the Lady Taverners Competition, and our swimmers enjoyed two hugely competitive swimming galas with Wells Cathedral and Queen’s College Taunton. Our Rugby 7s team have had a good start to the season as they performed well in our tournament as well as at the competition hosted at Downside School, and they look forward to Rosslyn Park at the end of term. Well done to our 1st XV rugby captains, Will and Oscar, who have both been selected in the U18s Southwest England squad. Finally, it was wonderful to see our Cross-Country runners perform so well at both the Somerset and Southwest Championships. A very special mention must go to Matilda on her selection to represent Somerset at the English Schools Championships; a wonderful achievement.
As always, the huge amounts going on would not be possible without the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment of all the staff and I am very grateful to each and every one of them for their efforts.
