Our Chaplain, keeping the King's Bruton links strong with local prep schools...

There’s stacks of variety that comes with being Chaplain at King’s Bruton - one of my favourite aspects of the role is visiting the numerous local prep schools that we have strong links with...

King’s is blessed to receive pupils from prep schools such as Perrott Hill, All Hallows, Port Regis, Hanford, Sherborne Prep, Forres Sandle Manor, The Ballard, Hazlegrove, Castle Court, St Peter’s Lympstone, Abberley Hall, & many more! To recognise our appreciation for these schools and to help support them in the formational work they do, I occasionally pop in to take assemblies and chapel services for them. It could be reflecting on Psalm 139 - to see the awesomeness of God’s love. It might involve pondering how precious we all are as individuals to God. It could be an occasion where we mark Harvest or celebrate Advent or rejoice at the good news of Easter. A recent assembly involved considering what it looks like to obey Jesus Christ’s command to, ‘Love Your Enemies.’

This coming Monday I’m off to Hazlegrove to help them have a think about what ‘grace’ looks like in our lives. As always, there’s a game or two mixed in to the talk, along with plenty of illustrations and interaction. It’s important to recognise the relevance and joy of the Christian message. I’m always bowled away by the warm welcome I receive from staff and parents. Moreover, what is lovely, is to build connections and links with pupils due to come to King’s - it means that on their first day at King's, there’s a familiar face who recognises them and hopefully helps to put them at ease.
