On Friday 16th June, we had the Prep and Primary Schools' Arts Day here at King’s Bruton. We were lucky enough to be able to invite six local schools to participate in creative workshops, led by King’s staff and other local artists throughout the day. These included ceramics, textiles, printmaking, photography, silversmithing, and film. There were over 70 pupils engaged in the activities, most of which they had never experienced before. After lunch we were treated to an enthralling talk by cameraman William Churchill who regaled stories of his working life. He reflected on his many different travels abroad and inspired the pupils with his dangerous and exciting experiences. After the final workshop, a few cups of squash and biscuits, we finished the day with some silly games. The pupils left having had an action-packed, creative day with some souvenirs to take home too. Thanks to all those teachers who brought along their pupils and for entering into the spirit of the day. Also thank you to the professional artists who inspired all the pupils with their wonderful workshops.
