I am so impressed with all of our teams and the quality of hockey, fighting spirit and attitude they showed in all of the games. Best of luck to the U15 Girls, U16 Boys and 1st XI boys who all have important cup fixtures this week.

The seniors and U15 travelled to Wellington for a triangular with them and West Buckland.

The 1st Team started against West Buckland 2nd Team (as their Firsts were at regionals). We took a strong lead early on which allowed us to play everyone in different positions, including Phoebe and Issy who played up in the Firsts for their debuts! The final result was a good win, if a little messy at times, of 28-8. Player of the Match was Marcia. The second game had a whole different feel to it, and Wellington were more interested in being physical than trying to out play us. We lost Alice to injury in the first quarter, but stayed strong and composed against the odds to win 24-16, with Kitty getting Player of the Match for remaining calm and in control against a very assertive defender.

The Seconds had much easier games, and were by far the best side against both teams. They beat West Buckland 26-19 and Wellington 40-5 with Ellie and Liv gaining Players of the Match, a special mention must go to Eily for steeping up to seniors for the first time and Freya for moving up a team last minute and playing very well. The Thirds had similarly easy matches winning 34-14 and 25-5. There were some very good performances from all the girls, especially those who stood in last minute, but Player of the Match went to Liv for her consistent shooting.

The U15A only had a match against West Buckland, as Wellington couldn’t field an A Team. They didn’t perform at their best, however, with grit and resilience, they held on for a 10-9 win. Player of the Match was Sophie.

The U15B played a triangular and beat West Buckland 14-3, but were sadly umpired out of the game against Wellington to lose 2-9. Player of the Match was Flo.

The U14 played at home with some closer games. The U14A’s were playing exceptionally well, until the 3rd quarter, but managed to hold on for a 20-20 draw, Player of the Match was Olive on her first game up in the A’s. The U14B team won 12-3 in a very good game, with Mae and Hermione getting Players of the Match. The U14C, in only their second match of the session, played very well, sadly losing 6-16. A special mention must go to Jenna, who can't play through injury, but kindly offered to umpire this game - many thanks.

Well done to everyone.
