Chapel is more relevant than ever...
I know I’m biased as Chaplain, but I genuinely don’t think there could be anything more important and worthwhile than the whole school pausing each week for Chapel. Why? Because at its heart, Chapel offers us all a chance to reflect on and rejoice in the most wonderful news of all, rooted in the scriptures: a message of life to the full, found in Jesus Christ.
This term, our focus in Chapel is built around three verses from Paul’s letter to the Colossian church recorded in the New Testament. They are as follows:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
Each week we’ll be looking at one of the key words from the verse (compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience, forgiveness and love) and really thinking through what it looks like to live it out at King’s in 2021. We’ll be seeking to address much that the recent Everyone’s Invited movement has raised. I’m praying that it will be a helpful, engaging, relevant, and fruitful series for all of us as we consider how Jesus Christ perfectly models and provides all of these qualities.
And yes, of course along the way there’ll be the usual quirky quizzes, games and laughs - because exploring faith should be fun, risk free, and engaging! Remember, it’s all about life - life to the full!
