On Monday afternoon, as part of the Sixth Form Enrichment Program, we virtually welcomed back two Old Brutonian’s to King’s Bruton.
Poppy Boyden (2019, Arion House) and Anna Wilmshurst (2019, Priory House) spoke to the Sixth Form about how to ‘Thrive and Survive their First Year at University’. Freya (U6th Form - Wellesley House) interviewed the OBs to find out how Poppy and Anna’s experiences differed and to learn of any top tips they could give the current U6th Form.
Poppy is currently in her second year studying Physiotherapy at Cardiff University and she talked about her experiences of the first few days in halls and the importance of learning how to budget.
Anna is just finishing her first year at the University of York where she is studying International Relations and her advice was centred around making the very most of every situation and not to worry about asking for help from those around you.
Poppy and Anna also said it was good to remember that when you start at university, everyone is in the same boat and that they will be feeling just as nervous as you. They suggested that you should put on a brave face and introduce yourself to people as well as joining societies too, you don’t know who you might meet as a result.
Poppy and Anna both shared some really helpful insights in to their different, yet similar, experiences of university life and I want to thank them to for their time; it was great to catch up with some familiar faces.
