A-Level Musicians' Teatime Concert

Sixth Form Music

On Thursday afternoon, some of our Sixth Form musicians gave a short recital in the Hauser & Wirth Recital Hall.

Sophie opened the occasion with a fun Mexican Serenade by Joplin in a rag time style. This was followed by a March from the Overture to Atalanta by Haydn with great attention to the characteristic dotted rhythms. Sophie then played an assured performance of Scarlatti’s Sonata in D. Freya followed by playing Chopin’s Nocturne in G minor with sensitivity and superb attention to bringing the intricate melodic line out. Amelia then sang a traditional folk song accompanied by Toby on guitar and vocals followed by an emotional and powerful rendition of A Heart of Stone from the musical SIX.

These afternoon performance recitals provide Sixth Form pupils with an important opportunity to perform in front of a supportive audience and build their confidence in performing ahead of recording A-Level recitals and examinations.

Well done and congratulations to all those involved!
