The U18 girls gave a fantastic account of themselves at the National Indoor Finals.

The tournament began with a very spirited 2-2 draw against renowned hockey school Repton, having been 2-0 down. This was followed by an outstanding performance versus Ripon Grammar School where King’s won 11-1 with Sophie scoring an impressive 8 times and with Julie and Olivia also contributing goals in what was an important victory.

The final match of the day saw King’s face St Lawrence College, the East of England champions, and despite creating a number of fantastic scoring opportunities, King’s couldn’t make them count as they were held to a 2-2 draw. This meant that a victory versus a talented Wellington College on day two, would see King’s qualify for the semi-finals. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as King’s didn’t take their chances to record yet another 2-2 draw. Therefore, despite not losing a match, King’s finished third in the pool missing out by one point. However, the girls should be incredibly proud of the way they played in all of their matches and on another day, the results could have been very different. They played exciting and entertaining indoor hockey which brought admiration from the neutrals watching.

Thank you to all of the girls for their efforts as well as Mr Corbin and Dr Corrigan for their help and support.
