Biology Educational Trips

On Tuesday the L6th Form Biologists enjoyed their fieldwork day hosted at King’s and Cole Manor.

In the morning the biologists took part in a falconry workshop, hosted by Pitcombe Rock Falconry. The pupils heard all about the five beautiful birds of prey that were brought into King’s; it was fascinating to learn about the adaptations of these birds and their predation skills. The pupils greatly enjoyed holding the Tawny Eagle, although some with slight trepidation!

In the afternoon, the pupils walked to Cole Manor where they carried out one of their required practicals which involved fieldwork and river sampling - it was very refreshing wading in the clear rivers as it was such a hot day. After the hard work was done, the pupils relaxed with delicious tea and cake! A huge thank you to Pitcombe Rock Falconry, Cole Manor and the L6th Form Biologists for making the day such a success. An album of photos from the fieldwork day can be seen below.
