Academic Success Sixth Form

King’s is delighted to announce record UCAS, Oxbridge, Medicine, Veterinary and International University application successes from the current U6th Form pupils.

Whilst the UCAS process is yet to be completed the current U6th Form have achieved a fantastic range of offers from their potential universities. The 49 pupils who have applied, have so far amassed 158 offers between them to study a broad range of courses ranging from Archaeology to Financial Mathematics, and Hospitality Management to Veterinary Sciences at competitive universities.

King’s had a number of pupils who formed the Oxbridge Group and applied to study highly competitive courses such as Natural Science, Theology, History and Geography at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities. This year we are delighted to announce that Kitty (pictured) of Wellesley House has been successful with her application. Kitty has successfully gained a place to study History at Corpus Christi, Cambridge. Head of History, Tim Fletcher commented: “This is a wonderful achievement which Kitty fully deserves. It has been a pleasure to watch Kitty’s historical interest develop over the years she has been at King’s.” Kitty joined King’s from All Hallows School in the 3rd Form back in 2013. In 2017 Kitty successfully gained a place on the Yale Young Global Scholars course and attended this highly selective residential course in New Haven, Connecticut. Having attended this course and having achieved straight A grades at AS Level, Kitty decided that she wanted to apply for the highly competitive History course at Cambridge. Kitty has managed to achieve this high academic success alongside her position as Head Girl. Furthermore, Kitty helped the King’s U18 Hockey Team reach the National Indoor Finals. Headmaster, Ian Wilmshurst, commented: “I am delighted that Kitty has received the offer to read History at Corpus Christi, Cambridge and she thoroughly deserves the place. Kitty has not only proved an excellent student, she has also shown impressive leadership as Head Girl. I am very proud of her and grateful to her History teachers, the Director of Studies and to the Head of Sixth Form for their support and guidance.”

Kitty’s success in achieving a Cambridge offer follows closely in the footsteps of Old Brutonian, Sam Young. Sam left King’s in 2016 to study Architecture at Robinson College, Cambridge and achieved a highly prestigious Choral Scholarship.

This Oxbridge success has come as King’s also celebrates the achievement of pupils who have been offered places on both Veterinary and Dentistry courses. Alongside this many pupils have achieved outstanding university offers for competitive courses, with a very high proportion of these offers coming from Russell Group Universities.

King’s is not just seeing success in UK university applications. Pupils are also showing global ambition; many are currently applying for universities in the USA, including Ivy League institutions, as well as applying to study in other European countries.

As the university application process begins to draw to an end, we would like to wish all pupils in the Upper 6th Form the very best with any remaining applications; we are sure they will also share the success that has been seen so far.
