Friends of King's Events

Over sixty Friends of King’s and their guests danced the night away on Saturday at the annual Friends of King’s Ceilidh and Burns Night Dinner. Each year this event becomes more and more popular and this year was no exception with the tickets selling out at a rate matched only by Glastonbury!

After welcome drinks served by the immaculate BTEC Hospitality pupils (well drilled by Mrs Vigers-Belgeonne), the guests were piped into the Memorial Hall by Andrew Cranfield (wife of Susan Cranfield, teacher at Hazlegrove). The Memorial Hall itself looked fantastic adorned with tartan banners and thistle-themed table centre pieces. As is traditional, the haggis was piped around the Hall before being theatrically addressed by David Richmond (3rd Form parent). The pupils served the rest of the Scottish fare, which was much enjoyed before the guests took to the floor for several hours of reeling, under the watchful eye and guidance of the Headmaster.  Whilst his knowledge and skill may not have been as necessary for some, it was vital for the novices amongst us. Judging by the laughter and participation level, the dancing was a huge success and much enjoyed by everyone. An album from the evening can be viewed below.

Thank you to all those who contributed to the success of this wonderful event. The next Friends event is a Coffee Morning in the Club Room, At the Chapel on Bruton High Street on Friday 17th March at 8:30am.
