On Friday 23rd September the Friends of King’s held their inaugural Quiz Night and supper.

A packed Memorial Hall of 120 parents, Friends of King’s and staff were kept under control by The Rev, who with microphone in hand and with dexterity and command, kept the vying teams under control. With two rounds of fast and furious questions from literature, television, sport and science, the contestants were then fed a ploughman’s supper, meticulously served by the BTEC Hospitality students, before the Rev again took control for the final two rounds. By half time it was neck and neck between several teams and as the atmosphere heated, the teams were treated to somewhat taxing (to some) music and less difficult picture rounds, as well as the inevitable History and Geography questions. Whilst marking took place, the BTEC students judged the pudding competition before announcing Mrs Sykes’ delicious salted caramel cheesecake the winner. Finally, after the guests devoured the now judged puddings, the ‘scores on the doors’ were checked and verified, before announcing the New House Nomads victorious. However, the most coveted prize of the evening went to the losing team, as they were presented with what is now a much sought-after possession - a wooden spoon embossed with the King’s logo! A huge thank you to Nigel Wilson-Brown for his expert Quiz Master skills, to Jo McDermid for ‘manning’ the bar and to Rose Vigers and her BTEC Hospitality students for their professionalism and enthusiasm throughout the entire evening. Thank you too to the parents, Friends and staff for supporting the event. A photo album showing highlights from the evening can be seen below.
