Royal Navy CCF Cadets had fun and gained valuable experience at HMS Raleigh...
Royal Navy CCF Cadets embarked upon an immersive 24 hours at HMS Raleigh Naval Base in Cornwall. Their mission: undertake Royal Navy Damage Control training that simulates a torpedo strike on their vessel requiring them to race to patch holes with wooden chocks/spars/wedges and levers in the dark while being rapidly submerged in cold water. Within CHAOS (the name of the simulator!), the King’s Bruton Cadets were teamed up with Cadets from Selly Oak CCF where they operated together to save the ship…..3 times! After this soaking they were lightly toasted in the afternoon with a session on close-quarters firefighting. Overall, the session was a huge hit and the Cadets gained valuable experiences in how they respond to working under high pressure conditions within unknown teams. Suffice to say, they slept all the way home!
