An academic roundup of the Easter term...

The Easter term is without doubt the busiest term of the academic year. With so much to fit into a shorter term, and with two very busy trial examination periods ahead of the external examinations in the summer, there is often little time available to catch our breath. However, whilst incredibly busy, the Easter term is always very productive and is the stage at which the progress made throughout the Christmas term is built upon, and strong foundations are put down for the remainder of the year. I have been incredibly impressed with all pupils as they have tackled their respective courses and assessments. Alongside some outstanding academic grades, numerous commendations, and excellent trial examination results, I have been delighted to see pupils take advantage of the many opportunities for enrichment that are available. Whether this be visits to The Newt in Business Studies, London for Art and Biology, or simply subject workshops, symposiums and presentations, it has been brilliant to see these trips and activities very well supported.

It has also been a very successful term in terms of pupils securing various Higher Education options. With many pupils securing places on fantastic undergraduate courses across a range of subjects, there is certainly plenty of additional motivation ahead of the summer examinations. With pupils also looking to gain qualifications overseas and exploring competitive apprenticeship options, it is brilliant to see pupils selecting routes that are right for them and allow them to follow their areas of interest.

At the start of the term, the Headmaster asked all pupils to commit to making the most of the term and to maximise the opportunities available to them. I would like to congratulate all in the School community for following the Headmaster’s target and making the Easter term so successful. I wish all pupils a lovely Easter, and I wish all those preparing for external examinations the very best as they embark on programmes of revision.
