King's pupils took part in a UKPSA/IPSC Action Air shooting competition...

Last Sunday, two pupils travelled to High Wycombe to attend a UKPSA/IPSC Action Air shooting competition hosted by XPSC Shooting Club. This was the first competition for both and, in fact, the first ever representation of a school at a national Action Air event. The competition consisted of 8 very varied ‘stages’ designed to test the competitors shooting ability with the overall objective to get the best score in the shortest time.

Both boys have been training hard and this showed in their excellent approach to the challenges they were presented with as well as their outstanding adherence to the safety standards required for this type of competition. They quickly settled into the routine necessary for the smooth running of the event and were a credit to themselves in the way they helped out with patching and resetting targets.

Other competitors ranged from the current UK champion and European medal winners with many years of experience to other first-time shooters. Against this experienced field, the pupils acquitted themselves admirably, shooting consistently well across all the stages and ultimately achieving a very creditable 16th place overall and a 2nd in Category award.

This was a great learning experience for the pupils which will feed back into their training for the next competition.
