King's Bruton pupils taking part in the Team Chess Challenge...

On Monday afternoon, two teams from King’s Bruton went to Bristol Grammar School to take part in the Team Chess Challenge 2022/23 West of England Regional Round. With 42 teams taking part, the teams were divided into two sections. We had one team in each section.

KSB A

Robert, Oli, Jesse, Winnie

Round 1. Lost 4:0 against Bristol Grammar School B

Round 2. Won 2.5:1.5 against Chew Valley A

Round 3. Lost 1.5:2.5 against QEH B

Round 4. Won 4:0 against Commonweal A

Final position: Joint 9th out of 20 teams in Section 1.

KSB B

Tyler, Niko, Will, + reserve borrowed from Sir Thomas Rich

Round 1. Drew 2:2 against Churchill C

Round 2. Won 3:1 against Denmark Road C

Round 3. Lost 1:3 against Chew Valley B

Round 4. Lost 4:0 against Clifton High A

Final position: 18th out of 22 teams in Section 2.

This was a good result for King’s in a very competitive field. The top 4 teams in Section 1 will go on to the national round. Not for us, this time.
