On Monday, King’s hosted a qualifying tournament for the English Chess Federation’s Under 19 National Schools Chess Championship.
Our team from King’s was joined by one team from Sexey’s School, one team from Taunton School and two teams from Millfield School.
After three rounds, the results were as follows:
- Joint 1st place: Millfield A and Millfield B (winning all three of their games)
- 3rd place: Taunton School (winning two games and narrowly losing one game)
- Joint 4th place: King’s and Sexey’s (one draw and two losses)
King’s players were: Tyler (New House), Tom (New House), Robert (New House), Ollie (New House), Nathan (Blackford House), Fred (Blackford House). Reserves Toby (Blackford House) and Jared (New House) also played one game each. Robert was our man of the match, winning two out of his three games.
