A fascinating trip to Hampton Court for our A Level History pupils...

On Wednesday 29th June, the L6th Form Historians visited Hampton Court to support their course on Tudor England. Being able to see Henry VIII’s apartments really brings the Tudor Court to life, and makes it so much easier to understand how the Court and Council functioned in the Tudor era. We were able to hear the story of Katherine Howard’s ghost, see  the spot where Edward VI was baptised and admire the Tudor family portraits, and see them as they wished to be seen. Having visited Henry VIII’s apartments and the Tudor kitchens - where the scale of the Court really came across - there was time to see the rest of the Palace and its fantastic gardens, which looked at their best in the June sunshine. The pupils all got a huge amount out of the day, and it was a great way to end the first year of the A Level course.
